Faith is really passionate about debt freedom, helping people get out of debt and talking about finances. Leo is an occupational therapist, who loves to play basketball during his free time, and is passionate about sharing their story of hope.

At first, Faith had a mindset of seeing debt as normal and planned to take care of it later. She bought all the things she wanted, the opposite of Leo. Leo, in fact, motivated her to settle their debts first in order to begin a family. They have figured out the purpose and vision of their marriage. Having financial conversations before they've got married helped them to address their goals early on.

Leo and Faith did some side hustling, spending almost all their time working and attacking one loan at a time. They have created a poster to visually see the flow of their debts and payments. Furthermore, they are treating it seriously and considering it as a kind of motivation. They are dedicated and are digging their heels in to get to the finish line.

Are you looking for a way to get rid of debt? You must be open to possibilities, have the willingness to give up some things and learn new ones, continually updating your knowledge, and possessing the guts to conquer your fears. No one knows what will happen in the future. You have to take the first step towards your ultimate goal, try your best with strategies, and stay focused on your way to financial freedom.

On today’s episode of The His & Her Money Show, we have a very successful real estate investor and blogger, Rich Carey, to share his debt freedom journey and give you some hope and inspiration! Rich grew up fascinated by real estate and still thinks it is the coolest thing to do. Later, he ended up being drowned by student loan debt of $32,000. His wife, who was his girlfriend at the time, encouraged him to be responsible for his obligations and helped him craft a plan to pay off the debt. They did side hustles and started his journey of real estate investing.

Afterward, they acquired a home mortgage worth $280,000. The family decided to live a very frugal life; eating out and having fancy vacations was not on their to-do list during this time. They chose to live on the smallest income possible and put everything else into savings and investments. With the combination of this unique approach and the power of real estate, plus his income from the Air Force, he found his way out from under. The mortgage was paid off quickly in just 6-7 years instead of the standard 30 years.

Rich pursued his real estate investment career despite working overseas. He purchased another rental property in cash to avoid the hassle and flipped it, earning a significant profit. The success of this idea led him to own 20 properties in one location. He proved that a real estate investment is not a nightmare but a vehicle for financial freedom and a more promising future.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

• How Rich shifted his mindset and became motivated to get out of debt
• How he ended up being a real estate investor
• Why he settled his 20 properties in one place
• How he bought 6 properties in just 10 months
• How he continually upgraded his knowledge
• The difference between buying things in cash or creating debt
• The benefits of having investments in one city
• Advice on choosing property managers
• How he decides if it’s a good buy or not

Everybody knows that habits are hard to break, and that's especially true when it comes to money habits. Whether you're overspending the monthly budget, sleeping on the income you know you should be making, or even just not keeping track of your finances at all, one bad money habit always leads to more, and that's when your financial destruction can start to snowball, sometimes for generations. Breaking the mold is tough, but it's worth it in the end to set a good financial foundation for the present and the future!

On today's episode of The His & her Money Show, we're so glad to be talking with Amir and Candace Shameih about their decision to break out of debt and grab a piece of that financial freedom. This faith-forward couple took the initiative, got their plan together, and set out to eliminate their debt in 18 months...and then they beat the odds and came out debt-free in just 7! Their story is incredible, and we can't wait for you to hear it!

Neither Amir nor Candace grew up in money-conscious families. As kids, they saw the bad side of what can happen when you let the state of your finances fall back as a priority, but even so, for awhile it seemed like they were both on the same path all too soon. Fortunately, history wasn't doomed to repeat itself, and after Candace, the couple truly began to realize their options. Between the two of them, they had over $58,000, from student loans, credit cards, and a whole lot else. They could stay a slave to the lender, or they could take control of their money, bust their way out of debt, and live financial freedom to the fullest. And you can bet they chose the right one! Keep listening to find out how they did it, and maybe learn something along the way!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • Bringing your spouse on board to tackle your debt together
  • Getting into a new mindset to start your budget
  • Some of Candace and Amir's tips and tricks for getting out of debt
  • Cutting monthly costs around the household
  • How to stay focused and not give into temptation
  • Gow faith kept Candace and Amir strong through their debt free journey

Here at His & Her Money, we know there's nothing more important when it comes to managing your finances as a smart money couple than being a united front. This goes for all things money (and marriage!) related, but it's especially necessary when you're talking about debt. The journey to debt freedom is often full of sacrifices and big life changes along the way - and sometimes even a total lifestyle overhaul - and if you're not on the same page, the back and forth struggle can put a major strain on your end goal AND your relationship. But with dedication, faith, and togetherness, any couple can fight the good fight and come out the other side strong!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we've got a couple that did just that. Get ready for an incredible debt elimination story. Kerry and Kamille once had over $111,000 in debt, between credit cards and student loans, and it was just getting bigger. Once they truly started feeling the weight, they knew it was time to break free - and just 21 months later, they did! Now they're living completely debt free, and keep listening to find out how they did it!

Right before Kerry graduated college, the couple went on an 11-night celebration trip to the Caribbean. It was expensive, but they figured they'd pay it off over time. It wasn't long after, though, that they both started thinking about how much debt was piling up on their credit cards. It was obvious that eliminating their debt was the next logical step, for their finances and their marriage moving forward, and Kerry was already considering their options when Kamille suggested they go to Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. One class and they were hooked! Paying off their debt became a discipline, and just like anything, there were hiccups along the way - but there was no stopping them. And now, just 21 months later, Kerry and Kamille have paid off their debt completely, and they couldn't be happier!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • Why you shouldn't be content being average
  • When Kerry and Kamille decided to eliminate their debt
  • The importance of accountability and "accountability partner" benefits
  • Kerry and Kamile's faith began their approach to debt freedom
  • Different ways Kerry and Kamille budgeted and saved money
  • How to stay focused and disciplined

Eliminating debt isn't easy. It doesn't matter if you're single, a family unit, or a couple - it'll always have its challenges, and especially as newlyweds, tackling your finances might not be a challenge you want to take on right away. But the sooner the better! Forming a united front against your debt isn't just a learning experience and a lot of hard work and sacrifices: sure, it can be a test of marriage, but it's also taking the first big step towards financial freedom and starting to build the life you want together.

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, Michael Lacy is coming in to tell us all about his debt-free journey, and how he and his wife Taylor smashed $61,000 of debt in just 16 months! Michael is the founder of Black Sheep Finance, where he's a financial coach dedicated to offering clarity and practical advice for others who are struggling to achieve their financial dreams. He's a wealth of information and you're sure to learn something today!

Unlike so many Americans, Michael and Taylor didn't have student loans or a mortgage to contend with -- but they WERE swimming in credit card debt and car loans. Michael's father gave him plenty of financial advice from a young age, but once his credit card usage got started, it spiraled, and by the time they got married, he and Taylor had a whopping $61,000 of debt between them. There was no end in sight until they ended up rained in on their honeymoon, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise -- with nothing else to do, they started setting their goals for the future, tallied up their debt, and decided that it was time to finally take control of their finances.

Once they were both on board, they got straight to working budgeting and setting their financial priorities. It wasn't all easy -- there were some hiccups along the way, and sometimes the process started to weigh on their marriage, but 16 months later, Michael and Taylor were enjoying the end of their debt payoff on a cruise! How will YOU celebrate yours?

On this episode of The His & Her Money show, we have Monica Louie who is here to teach on how to use Facebook Ads to grow your business.

Monica Louie a full-fledged Facebook Ads expert also shared the three main components of Facebook Ads: Firstly, you need to have an offer which can be as simple as a blog post or a free offer, download or training that people wants. Your offer should be an attention-grabbing one for people to engage with. Secondly, you need to find the right people who are interested in your offer. These people will share and spread your offer to their families and friends, gaining you organic reach. Lastly, make an attention-grabbing ad. This ad will grab other people’s attention and entice them to click through.

Monica also mentioned that she started with just as little as $5 a day for her budget. According to her, engagement plays a big role in your ad. More engagement means people are sharing the ads for you. It lowers the cost since it is higher click through. It also means more eyeballs for your ads.

She also shared the common mistakes that people make. People don’t have a clear strategy, what their goals are for their business. They are confused about the different things they want to do, which campaigns to use, and who are the audiences to target. They just dive in and didn’t know what they are doing. Lack of education can also hold you back in Facebook Ads success.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • How Monica started with Facebook ads
  • What are the components of a Facebook Ad
  • What are the important things that you need to take note when you are starting
  • Who should be your target audience
  • Is engagement important when it comes to ads?

Pretty much anyone who's ever dipped into the personal finance community has heard about side hustling. Here at His & Her Money, we're huge advocates of entrepreneurship, and we want everyone to know that getting a side hustle (or several!) can be an incredible tool for not just paying off debt and generating extra income, but ultimately achieving financial freedom in the process. Having more income is a powerful asset, and you might even be able to turn your hobbies into cash!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we're so glad to have Michelle Schroeder-Gardner on the show with us! You might know Michelle from MakingSenseOfCents.com, and as well as being a blogger, she's a personal finance expert, wife, and full-time traveler. She started her blog back in 2013 as a hobby, but once she realized she could make a go of it, she paid off a whopping $40,000 in student loan debt, left Corporate America behind, and she and her husband have been making the best of financial freedom ever since!

Michelle was working full-time as a financial analyst when she got her first student loan notice in the mail - that was when she realized that she didn't want to be tied down for the next 8 to 12 years paying them off. By now Michelle was following the personal finance community, reading stories of debt smashing success, and it didn't take long to realize that she could do that too! Her first side hustle was mystery shopping, and that was just the beginning. From there, she and her husband found more ways to manage money: eating out less, cutting costs, and of course, side hustling.

Michelle credits her success to one course, Elite Blog Academy. We must mention this course only opens once a year and you must get on the waiting list to even be notified of it.

FYI- Elite Blog Academy is currently open through Friday, March 9th! Get in the doors before it closes and doesn’t open up until next year. Click here to find out more info.

Michelle didn't know much about blogging when she first started, let alone that she could make a living doing it. Her work-life balance involved weekends and later hours, and she even used her vacation days to work on the blog. But hard work paid off: 6 months after she started blogging, she made her first $100; a year after, she was earning roughly $5,000 a month; today, she makes over $1,000,000! Michelle is an incredible wealth of tips, tricks, and advice, from networking and blogging conferences to advertising and making the most of your blog presence online. Her journey is incredible, and yours can be too!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • How Michelle got in the mindset to get debt free fast
  • Setting out to make your side hustle your full-time source of income
  • How Michelle makes money off her blog
  • The basics of networking and building online relationships
  • Breaking down the habits of million dollar bloggers vs. the unsuccessful

There are few things we champion more than taking up a good side hustle. Whether you're paying off debt, saving up for that dream vacation, or even just looking to profit from a new creative outlet, there are countless ways to generate extra income. And the best part is, sometimes your side hustles can turn into something so much more! Walking dogs, teaching yoga, graphic design...these can all be transformed from passion projects to lucrative businesses, but one of the most popular and profitable side hustles is starting a blog. We know you've heard about this before, and you might still have your doubts. So keep listening!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, things are about to get interesting! We've brought on a great friend and an even MORE amazing blogger, Rosemarie Groner, to share her experiences in the blogosphere and tell us all about her incredible success story. When Rosemarie started her blog, The Busy Budgeter, she had an idea of what she wanted her end goal to be but, just like you, didn't know if she'd succeed. And in 10 months, her readership and income blossomed into a full-time income and beyond, and now she's making $100,000 a month! We'd call that a success!

Of course, blogging wasn't the first career Rosemarie envisioned herself having. She was a state trooper for 9 years, but as a wife and mom, due to her crazy unpredictable schedule, she knew she didn't want to do it forever. And when she started a home daycare center, that didn't work out too well either. There had to be a way to replace her full-time income, and suddenly, she found it in a random email for a blogging course. From there, Rosemarie enrolled in Elite Blog Academy (a His & Her Money favorite!), and this was just the beginning. It was a lot of work and dedication, but as her blog grew and grew, Rosemarie realized she was building a six-figure business - as a stay-at-home mom, no less!

Find Rosemarie at BusyBudgeter.com, and join her in taking the blogging world by storm!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • How Rosemarie started her blog and steps she took to make it great
  • Investing in your blog, and why it's important
  • Different ways to generate blog income
  • Staying on track while building your blog and squashing discouragement

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, Ruth Soukup is stopping by! A few years ago Ruth was on the show to talk about her new book, "Living Well Spending Less", and we're so excited that she's here again to share her incredible entrepreneur journey to success, and how she's extended her blog savviness to helping others! Ruth's course, Elite Blog Academy, is dedicated to guiding aspiring bloggers just like you get their blogs up and running. Ruth might be a seasoned million dollar blogger now, but just like anybody starting out, it wasn't always smooth sailing.

Back in 2010, Ruth and her husband were trying to get on the right financial track. They were also constantly butting heads over money, and as a stay-at-home mom of two small kids, Ruth needed a creative outlet that didn't involve overspending. That was when she launched Living Well Spending Less, where she started documenting her couponing efforts and organizing tips and tricks for friends and family. She didn't expect much would come from it until the couponing craze hit in full swing and suddenly her blog was shooting up on Google's ranks. Ruth thought she was crazy (and so did her husband!), but as the blog grew, the potential was obvious - it was time to get serious, and the rest was history!

Get inspired at EliteBlogAcademy.com!

Just because everybody's doing it doesn't mean you have to follow the crowd. You know exactly what we're talking about: student loans, and the long-term affects of living with them. Your financial freedom largely depends on what you're bringing in and how much is going right back out; by paying off your loans as soon as possible, you're drastically minimizing the paycheck to paycheck cycle, and your financial future will be totally up for YOU to decide!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we're thrilled to have Gary here with us to share his incredible debt-free journey. Gary is a blogger and IT professional, and once he was swimming in student loans. But not anymore! With hard work and determination, and a few pretty big sacrifices along the way, Gary put his money smarts to the test straight out of college and cut his $60,000 debt down to nothing in just three and a half years!

Sometimes it's hard enough to manage your money when you're an individual, but as a couple, your finances can feel like a much bigger responsibility. It can also be a struggle if debt is holding you back, and the stress of living paycheck to paycheck can put a strain on your relationship. But through openness, communication, and unity within a marriage, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Here at The His & Her Money Show, we're all about marriage, family, and anything in between - and smart money couples are at the top of the list!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we've got Alex and Cassie from TheThriftyCouple.com over to talk with us about money, marriage, and of course, debt destruction! Once upon a time, they were a whopping $108,000 in consumer debt - credit cards, student loans, and beyond. None of these expenses were too shocking alone, but together, they added up!

Most of the time, good money management doesn't come to us naturally. Knowing where your finances stand, and most importantly, how to handle them, is a learned behavior; that being said, it can also become second nature pretty fast, and the best way to form smart money habits for the long-term is to educate yourself as well and as often as possible. And we get it: sometimes that's easier said than done. Where do you start? Why are there so many numbers? But by finding a way to stay focused, motivated, and yes, interested, taking control of your financial life might turn out to be a lot easier than you think!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we've got a great one for you! Financial guru, educator, and motivational speaker Ash Cash is joining us for some eye-opening conversation and to get into some of the details of his latest book, The Wake-Up Call: Financial Inspiration From 4:44 + A Step By Step Guide On How To Implement Each Financial Principle. We've been fans of Ash since the very beginning of His & Her Money and bringing him on board is an incredible opportunity for all our listeners to get a taste of all that he has to offer!

Here at His & Her Money, we love to talk about finances. But we also LOVE to talk about marriage and family life. Everything in a marriage is shared, including the finances - and everything that comes with them. Sometimes both sides come into a marriage with debt and financial baggage, and maybe it can seem easier to just let it go and carry on. But eliminating debt can be a massive weight off your shoulders, whether you're a couple or an individual, and it's never too late or too early to get the conversation started!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, Javier Gutierrez from DreamerMoney.com is here to share his incredible journey to debt freedom. When they got married, Javier and his wife Taylor had a combined debt of over $34,000, and soon they realized that neither of them wanted to foresee carrying their debt around for much longer. Listen in to find out how they got in the zone and destroyed their debt in less than two years!

Here at His & Her Money, we're not just a financial podcast. Not only are we avid counselors of marriage and family (and everything in between!), but we're also very conscious of faith. It's a huge part of life and can come up in all aspects, from business to everyday moments, and whether you have lifelong dedication or have just recently opened your heart to God, we're always excited to spread the conversation.

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we're so lucky to have Touré Roberts joining us for a great discussion on faith, business, and prioritizing your life. Touré is a Los Angeles-born pastor and entrepreneur with a passion for helping others and promoting "wholeness": the pursuit of being complete. He's just released his brand new book, Wholeness: Winning At Life From The Inside Out, and today he's giving us a taste of what's in store. Touré is a wealth of information and wisdom and has so much to say on worship, prayer, and how to apply them to become the best version of yourself that you can be!

Most people don't often think about getting rid of their debt as soon as they get out of college. Student loans are fast becoming the norm, but just because everyone has them, that doesn't mean you have to keep them! The thing is if your goal is to destroy your debt before it completely takes over, that often means living frugally. This might not sound like the most glamorous lifestyle, but if you can achieve financial freedom as soon as possible, it's worth it in the end!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, Lily He-Prudhomme from The Frugal Gene is coming in to tell us all about her debt free journey. Lily is a blogger, full-time Airbnb host, and an incredible resource for learning about how to start your own debt free journey. She and her husband are also on the path to creating generational wealth, and we can't wait for you to hear all about it. At one point, Lily was splurging on a pizza from Costco; now she and her husband are putting away $100-150,000 a year in savings and living completely free of debt!

Saving money for retirement may not be the first thing on everybody's mind. It seems pretty far down the road to be worrying about it now, but it's never too soon to start taking steps towards financial independence, now or for the future. Here at His & Her Money, one of the things we stress the most is the power of smart investing, and our favorite way to get started on the right path is through 401ks. You may not put that much thought into your employer's 401k, but we hope this episode gives you something to think about!

On today's episode of The His & Her Money Show, we decided to bring in Chris Costello, a 401k expert, for an in-depth conversation on investment and saving for retirement, and how the answer to getting started could be right in front of you this whole time. Chris has been deep in the financial services community since 1995, and as the CEO and co-founder of Blooom, he's an invaluable resource of practical financial advice. Today he's breaking down investments, 401k, personal finances, and generating long-term wealth - this is one you won't want to miss!

Chris and his Blooom co-founder Kevin were working well as financial and wealth advisers when they branched out and started their own firm in 2004, but they were growing frustrated with the fact that those who needed financial advising the most weren't often able to get it - the final straw was when Chris realized his own parents, even though they were his clients, didn't even qualify for the firm that they'd created. It was time to make a real change, and ultimately that was where Blooom was born.

Blooom's goal is to help everyone and anyone to understand and utilize their 401k. They offer incredible tools and advice and, most importantly, financial peace of mind. Today Chris walks us through some big steps and gives incredible practical advice, tips, and tricks, but it's just the tip of the 401k iceberg and there's so much more to learn with Blooom. So what are YOU waiting for?

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE

  • What a 401k is and how to use them to generate long-term wealth
  • Investment do's and don'ts
  • Traditional 401k vs. Roth 401k
  • Debt and what to do with it before and during the investment process

It's one thing to start the journey to debt freedom as an individual, but tackling your debt as a couple means working as a team. Like most things in marriage, showing up debt as a united front is the key to making the journey smooth. Sometimes this can be hard, and other times it's a unanimous decision, and either way, we love sitting down with smart money couples to talk about how they manage marriage, family, and finances.

On today’s episode of The His & Her Money Show, we're joined by Caleb and Rachel Mathias from Lancaster, Pennsylvania to talk about their debt free journey, and how they destroyed $45,000 of debt in just 16 months! This is an amazing feat, but coming so fresh into their marriage, it wasn't always an easy one. But once they got off the ground, Caleb and Rachel were focused and determined to reach their goals, and now they're living completely debt free!

Caleb and Rachel started their marriage off with approximately $45,000 of debt between them - mostly student loans, with car loans and consumer credit card debt. It was nothing they couldn't handle. But they both had great-paying jobs and weren't living extravagantly, so...why were they dipping into their savings to pay the bills? That was the turning point where they decided to take a good look at their finances, find out where their money was really going, and get serious about eliminating their debt and paving the road towards financial freedom.
